This information doesn’t sound enormously useful to me, and before the Thundercats can come up with a plan anyway, Groon returns, having used some thundranium to pimp up his weapons. Cheetara’s vision fills us in on Groon’s back story: he is a Thundercat and an old mate of Jaga’s, but he turned evil and had to be banished from Thundera. It’s at this point that Cheetara reveals that she sometimes gets psychic visions, an ability that hasn’t been mentioned before and I’m 95% certain never will be again. Unfortunately, they don’t have any books about him, and his Wikipedia entry is merely a stub, so they don’t know where to start. Liono rather surprisingly opts for a cautious approach this week, insisting that the Thundercats do extensive research on Groon before they go blundering in. He also informs the Thundercats that Groon has evidently had enough of thundrilium and is now looking for thundranium, which is allegedly a very unstable mineral with the colloquial name of firerock. One of the villagers is that dog in a top hat from The Tower of Traps, who comes straight to the Cats’ Lair to beg for help. When we next see Groon, he’s inexplicably grown to about 100 feet high, and he’s stomping a village to smithereens. Once Panthro is out of action, the other Thundercats stand around stupidly, while Groon drains the thundrilium from their systems, then makes himself visible and indulging in some gloating before his departure. To accomplish this, he makes himself invisible and heads to the control room, seemingly in order simply to beat Panthro up for no apparent reason. His first stop is the Cats’ Lair, where he voices an unexpected and unexplained desire to steal some thundrilium. Having served their narrative purpose, the sheep flee from the tomb, while Groon emerges intending to pick up where he left off. Once there, they happily engage in some cultural vandalism, searching for treasure, and in the process unleash the ghost of an ancient warrior called Groon, who is notorious for having blazed a trail of destruction across Third Earth many years ago. Seeking shelter from a heavy storm, two sheeplike creatures venture down into a deserted tomb. In which Cheetara comes up with a new ability, just in case anyone thought she was useless.
